How Elder Roots Can Assist You

Carol lives at home, completely independent, traveling, teaching workshops and spending time with her family. She owns the home she has lived in the majority of her life and she’s not ready to move out. She likes the community she’s lived in too, and the life-long relationships she’s built. She wants to stay in the familiarity of her home that she’s lovingly cared for, but now she is ready to have someone else manage the day-to-day needs of maintaining the home. Elder Roots also provides Carol with the peace of mind that her beloved garden is cared for while she travels, and other more involved house projects such as painting can be completed while she’s away. When she is at home, she’s able to enjoy the comforts of home, without worry about home maintenance projects.

Charles is active in the community and contributes regularly to charities. Unfortunately, this means he receives an extensive amount of additional charitable requests by junk mail and telephone solicitations. With phone calls for donations increasing, it’s more difficult for Charles to identify legitimate organizations. Elder Roots was able to create systems to give and track his annual donations, for documentation of Charles’ donations, as well as decrease the number of unwanted callers and junk mail. In addition, Elder Roots can create systems to curb unwanted charitable requests and avoid potential Elder Fraud and Financial Scams.

Mary began using Elder Roots when she was more independent. Over the years she developed a close relationship with her care manager. Now as her health has begun to decline, she has increased her level of support from Elder Roots. They worked with her family to hire a home health care agency to assist with her health and safety at home. In addition, Elder Roots worked in conjunction with other professionals to complete a risk-assessment, make changes in the home such as adding a ramp and a safety bar in the shower, and create a care plan. In addition, her doctor recommended changes to her diet. Elder Roots was able to implement the new dietary changes, crafting thoughtful meal plans that not only met Mary's nutritional needs but also delighted her taste buds and contributed to her overall well-being. Mary is able to enjoy many years in a home she knows while remaining safe.

Dorothy loves her home but can’t keep up with the maintenance. Her family lives nearby but leads busy lives, and she doesn’t want to burden them. Upon learning about Sarah from a good friend, Dorothy felt relieved knowing she could rely on assistance when needed, especially for waiting on repairmen. Elder Roots brings in trusted contractors from our vetted list or vets a company that fits your needs.
In addition to her maintenance concerns, Dorothy began experiencing memory issues and felt comfortable confiding in Sarah about her struggles. She expressed a desire to keep her mind sharp for as long as possible while having someone she trusted to monitor her well-being. Together, they developed a plan that included enjoyable and engaging activities aimed at cognitive stimulation. Some days, they reminisce while looking at family photo albums or explore new hobbies like making greeting cards or shopping at her favorite clothing store. Through these activities, Dorothy finds joy and fulfillment while also receiving the support she needs to navigate memory challenges.

Earl wants to live independently at home, but has recently expressed feelings of loneliness. After living in isolation for the last several years due to the pandemic, Earl just isn’t feeling like himself. He wants to get out of the house and see friends, but doesn’t want to burden his family by asking them to drive. Elder Roots takes Earl for a trip to the museum, a walk in the park, or out for a bite to eat. Elder Roots can work in conjunction with other professionals to monitor Earl’s cognitive skills so he can stay as independent as possible while aging in place.
